RAD Ballet
The benefits that the study of Classical Dance can produce are innumerable, such as discipline, commitment and music appreciation, besides the countless physical skills developed. However, we emphasize the importance of cultivating and valorising the habit and the pleasure of appreciating art and dance performances. Aiming to provide excellence in the content made available to our students, we search for seriousness and tradition of a teaching methodology that undoubtedly values desired results, but above all focuses on the learning process. The Royal Academy of Dance orients our entire curriculum and helps us to provide outstanding formation in a healthy academic environment.

The Royal Academy of Dance offers an internationally recognised portfolio of examinations and assessments designed to encourage, motivate and reward students of all ages and abilities, outlining a progressive structure for learning and achievement in dance. Students start with our our Dance to Your Own Tune and Baby Ballet dance curriculum, move through Pre-Primary and Primary levels and then into eight Graded and six Vocational Graded levels. Students can move from Graded Examinations to Vocational Graded Examinations at an appropriate time; or they can study both pathways simultaneously.

Who is it for?
● Children ages 4 years and up
● Children with or without prior experience
● Children showing a keen interest in the dance
● Able to follow instructions
● Ready to participate and listen to a teacher

Once a space becomes available in a suitable class, we will be in contact to offer a free trial session in an available class. No preparation is needed for the trial session which will take place in a normal weekly class. Baby Ballet
A natural progression from Dance to Your Own Tune, the Baby Ballet curriculum is designed for young dancers to begin exploring the art of dance through exposure to ballet steps, musicality, and self-expression. Students will be immersed into the beauty of ballet during weekly classes with our Royal Academy of Dance certified faculty. Class curriculums encourage the development of skills such as muscle strength, coordination and focus, all while providing a safe environment for children to blossom and enjoy artistic expression. Students are required to commit to one class per week. Upon completion, students will be equipped for entry into the Royal Academy of Dance Pre-Primary In Dance and Primary In Dance levels where they will continue their training and begin preparations for the annual graded examinations, intensive training, or other after school programs.

RAD Pre-Primary and Primary Examinations
Pre Primary in Dance continues on from Baby Ballet, the syllabus prepares students for a successful transition to ballet and other dance genres at higher levels. In both Pre-Primary in Dance and Primary in Dance, students, through participation and practice will be develop physical skills, stamina, creativity, expression and musicality using a range of sounds and musical styles. This strong foundation prepares students for a successful transition to ballet and other dance genres.

RAD Graded Examinations
Grades 1 through to 8 encourage the development of an appropriate and sound technique relevant for the ballet world of today. The syllabus identifies the necessary skills that underpin secure technique such as core stability, weight placement, turnout and line, while continuing to recognise and reward the student’s awareness of artistry and dynamics. Musically inspired exercises and dances promote joy in movement, creative interpretation, and a sense of dance and performance quality.

RAD Vocational Examinations
The Vocational Grades is the continuation of classical ballet from the graded syllabus with the introduction of Pointe work for female candidates. The work associated with each examination signifies a further set of stages in helping young students develop a greater understanding and performance of classical ballet. It is designed to give the necessary vocational training to students wishing to study dance as a career or dance related subjects.

Adult Ballet
This introductory class is specially designed for adults who have a passion and desire to learn ballet but have no prior dance experience. The classes provide a welcoming and friendly environment, with individualized instruction and attention, which exposes you to the core fundamentals of ballet in a relaxed and comfortable class setting. Throughout the class you will learn the basic body positions, core ballet exercises such as pliƩ and tendu, how to stand at the barre with appropriate body alignment and posture, an introduction to ballet terminology as well as ballet classroom etiquette.

RAD Discovering Repertoire Description
Discovering Repertoire is a classical ballet performance programme, an innovative concept in training and assessment from the RAD. Uniquely, the programme includes well-known classical repertoire, meaning students will learn and dance choreography that they have seen on stage, set to music that they know and love.Learners have the option of taking regulated examinations recognised at the following levels on the UK qualifications framework:

● Level 2 (equivalent to Grade 5/Intermediate Foundation standard)
● Level 3 (equivalent to Grades 6-8/Intermediate & Advanced Foundation standard)
● Level 4 (equivalent to Advanced 1 & 2 standard)

What To Wear
Students are requested to arrive for their class with the uniform appropriate to their grade or level. Female students should have their hair neatly tied back and students in Grades 1 and up should have their hair in a bun. In the interests of health and safety and safe dance practice, jewellery must not be worn, unless for religious or cultural reasons. If it is a students’ first class or trial class they are not expected to wear uniform and can wear something that they can move in easily. If prospective students do not have a leotard and skirt, they can wear leggings and a t-shirt or skirt and bare feet.
