LA-style Salsa with Jeamie
LA-style salsa is the style of salsa dancing popularized in Los Angeles and is one of the most popular forms of salsa dancing in the world. In LA-style, salsa dancers take their break step on the first count of the measure (on count 1), which is why it is also referred to as on1 salsa, vs on2 for New York-style. On1 salsa dancing is often considered a good style for beginners to learn since the on1 timing is typically easier for new dancers to pickup than on2 salsa timing. No dance partner required. During your classes, your instructors will get you rotating partners. Rotating partners is super social & it helps with the process of learning! You'll get to make new friends and you'll get to practice the moves with a different person each time. If you do have a partner and would prefer to stay together, that's ok too, just let your instructors know before the class starts. What To Wear |

Contemporary
This level will challenge you with fast-paced classes consisting of technical and complex movement sequences. The class is expressive and full of performance energy while at the same time working fluidly within the technique aiming to get the most out of every dancer. What is Contemporary
Contemporary dance is a form of dance which focuses on the serious expression of inner emotions, using a free-flowing, interpretive style, rather than following the rigid rules characteristic of many dance disciplines. Many of its concepts come from the ideas and innovations of 20th century modern dance, including floorwork and turn-in of the legs. Challenging yet invigorating, this cumulative series gives dancers an introduction to contemporary choreography and routines combining the fundamental techniques of contemporary and other genres of dance such as jazz, lyrical, ballet and more. The class will be paced and specifically tailored to match the needs and requirements of those participating. What To Wear |

Choreography
Choreography is a mix of clean, up-to-date moves based on hip hop, house, jazz, tap, locking and popping to create challenging choreography that encompasses how the style has evolved. Some choreographers draw most of their influence from a single style such as hip hop, for example, while others explore fusions between different genres. Ultimately, the choreography you learn in this class will depend on the choreographer’s own style, experience and interpretation of the music (that’s what makes it so fun)! The overall focus is on having a good time while challenging yourself physically and mentally throughout this well-structured, fast-paced class. What To Wear |

Strength & Flexibility
As in any sport, you need to train and develop strength in the muscles and movement patterns that are dominant for the specific activity in order to perform. In the instance of ballet, this translates to a lot of focus on strengthening and mobilizing the muscles and joints involved in turn out, back extension, and plantarflexion. Although strengthening and mobilizing these areas is important, it is EQUALLY as important to mobilize the joint into the opposite direction and strengthen the opposing muscles. Any time you have too much mobility and/or the majority of your strength produced into only one direction across a joint, you create an imbalance and it is only a matter of time before the repetitive stress turns into an injury. What To Wear |

Contemporary
