The Company Experience

The Sole To Soul Dance Company is a performance-driven company made up of our most dedicated and capable dancers. It is designed for individuals who aspire to pursue dance at a higher level—whether professionally, academically, or personally.

Dancers in the company are trained to meet elite standards in technique, discipline, and artistry, while gaining real-world experience through performances, productions, and collaborations. This is where training evolves into purpose, and dancers begin to define their identity as artists.

The SDC Journey

2010 marked the beginning of the SDC journey. Led by founding trainer Jason Lee, our first ever Elite group, also known as SDC Elite focused strongly on performance based training, with an emphasis on Hip Hop and choreography. Dancers were carefully selected through classes and auditions, undergoing an initial 6 month intensive programme before being introduced to a wide range of projects and stage productions. The group maintained a highly active performance schedule, averaging 3–5 shows monthly, building both versatility and stage confidence. Many members from this pioneering group have since gone on to become professional dancers, studio owners, and educators.

Established alongside our first Elite initiative, our Kids SDC group was introduced later that same year. Under Jason's guidance, our young dancers were immersed in structured, performance-focused training in street dance styles, building strong foundations in technique, musicality, and discipline. Following a similar intensive training phase, they were given opportunities to participate in performances and projects, developing confidence and stage presence from a young age. Many have since continued their dance journey, progressing into advanced training and professional pathways.

In 2013, the SDC Girls Elite was introduced to develop a strong, confident, and versatile female ensemble. Led by Orange Loke, the group focused on both competitions and performances, with specialised training in Jazz and Girls Hip Hop. Dancers were selected through auditions and trained in an intensive, performance driven environment that emphasised style, precision, and stage presence. This group played a key role in strengthening the studio’s competitive presence while nurturing individuality and artistic expression.

Later the same year, the SDC K-Pop Elite was formed in response to the growing global influence of K-pop culture. Under Christopher Lee’s direction, the group specialised in K-pop performance and cover work, with a strong focus on synchronisation, precision, and stage impact. Beyond covers, dancers were trained to adapt choreography for competitions and live performances, gaining exposure through various showcases and projects. The group built a strong identity rooted in performance quality and entertainment value.

In 2015, the SDC Breakdance Elite was introduced. Dedicated to the foundations and culture of Breaking, this Elite group was led by Dion Chong with a strong emphasis on competitions and performance. Training focused on technique, musicality, freestyle, and battle readiness. Dancers underwent intensive training to build strength, control, and individuality, while gaining exposure through competitions and showcases. This group played an important role in expanding the studio’s presence within the street dance and battle scene.

Later the same year, a new generation of SDC Kids Elite, led by Luke Ong, brought a refreshed focus on competition training. Specialising in Hip Hop and Popping, the group emphasised strong fundamentals, groove, and performance clarity. With a smaller, more focused team, dancers received closer mentorship and more targeted development, allowing them to build confidence and competitive readiness at a young age.

2023 marked a new chapter of the SDC Elite program. Led by Kenneth Tan, an alumnus of the original SDC Kids, the new group reflects the full circle growth of the SDC journey, with former students returning as leaders. Focused on competitions, the programme emphasises Hip Hop training, performance excellence, and artistic maturity. With a more selective group size, dancers benefit from focused mentorship, preparing them for high level competitions and professional opportunities.
